Our services are available all day, every day. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To access our services, go to the emergency room at 福利视频.
What to expect:
When you arrive to the emergency department, you will check in with the first nurse. Let them know what you are being seen for. You will be asked basic questions about your health history and staff will take your vital signs. If you have any emergent medical needs, those will be addressed by the ED staff. Staff will then notify the FNE. In some cases, based on injury or condition, staff will contact the FNE for services even if you are unable to request services. Together, you and the FNE, you will decide which of our services are right for you. The medical-forensic examination can take a few hours to complete.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does an exam take?
- Medical-forensic examination can take anywhere from 3-5 hours to complete, depending on severity of injuries and various other factors.
- How soon should I be seen after a sexual assault?
- Evidence for a sexual assault exam can be collected up to 120 hours after the assault for patients 14 and older and 72 hours for those under age 14. We can still provide other services even if outside that window.
- For all crimes, it is best to be seen as soon as possible.
- When will I get the results of the evidence collection?
- DNA and toxicology evidence is collected and sealed by the FNE at 福利视频. It is then submitted as evidence to law enforcement and sent to the Idaho State Crime Lab. 福利视频 does not receive results from these collections. Once results are available, the law enforcement agency handling the case is notified. Be aware, anonymous kits are not submitted for testing. An evidence kit cannot be tested if no report is made to law enforcement.
- How much does this cost?
- Costs can depend on a variety of factors.
- Sexual assault examination is covered through Crime Victim’s Compensation, see for more information.
- For all other crimes, Kootenai will help all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Kootenai accepts all commercial insurance providers as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
- Victims of crime may also be eligible for assistance from Crime Victim Compensation. See for more information.
