Comprised of labor and delivery, post-partum and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Family Birth Center was designed to provide a calm, private experience for new families. From labor and delivery to postpartum, each room is private to help maintain a quiet, restful atmosphere for families to bond with their newborn.
Expectant mothers and fathers receive education and encouragement by physicians, nurses, and staff before, during and after childbirth. The highest quality medical care is provided in a supportive, comfortable and safe environment.
Labor and Delivery
Our Family Birth Center has 10 labor and delivery rooms, each with jetted tubs and upgraded technology. Kootenai’s birthing suites are private and spacious, offering room for family members and other visitors.
Just down the hall from the labor rooms are 18 post-partum rooms. These rooms are large, private and offer amenities like large windows, a comfortable sleeper sofa, and a refrigerator.
福利视频 now allows Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) births at the Family Birth Center. To learn more, please discuss with your provider.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Kootenai’s Level III NICU consists of 12 rooms, with two of them equipped to handle twins if needed. We can care for babies born as early as 28 weeks gestation, and those as small as two pounds. Infants will have their own room with the latest technology available. Our neonatologists and neonatal staff are certified to nurture fragile newborns.
Safe Infant Sleep
At 福利视频, we want you to keep your baby healthy and safe. Kootenai was recognized by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program as a “Gold Safe Sleep Champion,” for our commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. We ask that you join us in practicing safe sleep habits with your new baby. To help ensure safe sleep, every baby born at Kootenai receives a sleep sack to wear at home.
