This knowledge and understanding of all the major transitions of life help us provide empathetic thorough care for your whole family. Not only is it easier to receive care for Parents and Baby in one setting; having relationships with other members of the family can help us not only identify the medical problems that arise but also allows us to approach treatment from a more holistic standpoint.
Celebrate Diversity
Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine Residency is accepting of all members of our community. Our clinic, staff and providers are welcoming of all backgrounds and cultures; approaching everyone with compassion for any needs that they may have.
We encourage and respect all beliefs when it comes to your health care, pregnancy, and child care. Focusing on education, preventive medicine and wellness, we listen to patients and create care plans with our patient’s goals for their health at the forefront.
Special Areas of Focus
The baby blues or postpartum depression is a common experience following birth. We have special skills involved with helping many women and their newborns through the sometimes challenging experience of pregnancy and postpartum. Our clinic is fortunate to have extra resources including social work, mental health trained physicians, substance abuse specialists and care managers. This allows us to provide specialty care for mental health and substance abuse during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.
Patient Testimonial
As a pregnant women, it’s difficult to find care. We are often left to endure pain and discomfort and told this is just the tribulations of being pregnant. This was my story, when Dr. Pyrak and her team stepped in to save me.
At 17 weeks pregnant I developed debilitating leg pain that left me bedridden and crying all day and night. At one point I could only use crutches to walk and ended up in the ER several times. My 1st OB prescribed pain meds and told me I would just have to get used to the pain and this was common in pregnancy. I sought another OB for help. The next was a little more understanding, but also prescribed pain meds and said because I was pregnant there wasn’t much else that could be done. By my 3rd trip to the ER, I was admitted to the hospital.
This is when my savior came into the picture. I instantly liked Dr. Pyrak. She was compassionate, patient and took charge of my situation. It was determined that I had a severe herniated disc that would require surgery. Being pregnant there were not a lot of options for me and few doctors willing to help. Dr. Pyrak went above and beyond to find me a provider willing to do surgery on me so I could get out of pain and continue with the pregnancy.
After my surgery, my pregnancy went along without a hitch. Dr. Pyrak delivered my healthy son and continues to look after his care. After receiving the amazing care I did, I immediately moved all of my family over to the Clinic, as did my mother. I shudder to think where myself and my family would be if I hadn’t been assigned to Dr. Pyrak. I am forever indebted.
